RUSSELL COUNTY SOLAR PARK
A POWER GENERATION SYSTEM IN RUSSELL AND ADAIR COUNTIES, KENTUCKY CONNECTING TO A EXISITING EAST KENTUCKY POWER SUBSTATION
PROJECT SUMMARY
Round Trip Energy is developing the Russell County Solar Park (Project), is a ~60 megawatt (MW) solar and energy storage facility located on ~450 acres of private property in Russell County and less than 50 acres in Adair County, Kentucky. The Project will produce electricity from available solar resources in order to deliver clean, renewable electricity to Kentucky customers. The Project will consist of photovoltaic solar panels made of mostly minimal reflectivity glass, aluminum frame, and Silicon cells that are mounted to steel framework on vertically driven steel piles which will range in height to around 8-11 feet above grade (max 15). The system will have gravel drives, electric cables, a collection substation, inverters, and some overhead feeder distribution lines between parcels. The Project will have fencing around the outside.
Estimated Project Schedule
Construction is planned to begin in 2027 and take around 12-15 months to complete. The system will provide power to utilities and customers in Kentucky and around for fixed prices long-term without dependance on gas or coal commodity pricing.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- Preserves 99% of the grade as-is and pervious land as-is.
- Local members of community will cut grass and maintain the yard. This is the main maintenance activity, besides minor equipment maintenance. There is around 12-14 feet between rows of panels, as shown to the left.
- No unusual hazardous materials are required.
- Takes advantage of federal incentives which are running out over the next few years, which ultimately provide benefit to the community.
- Neighbors are encouraged to speak with Round Trip to discuss the specific plan for equipment and landscaping placement in the area of their homes.
- Energy production estimated at that consumed by 11,500 homes; emissions reduction equivalent to 100,000 tons of CO2 per year.
